WAYS TO BRING COMPASSION AND SELF-LOVE TO YOUR DAILY LIFE THIS JUNE

What is the meaning of Compassion? And how do we bring it into our everyday life?.

One thing I do want to share with you is that it not only help others and helps the world around you, but It also can help you live a better, happier and more fulfilled life.

We do this by making it part of your everyday routine / or new habit and staying true to this routine. We wake up every morning to brush our teeth it's part of our routine a habit that we just get used to help our teeth stay healthy and strong. So, imagine bringing compassion and kindness every morning so that your mind and body can be healthy too.

Practicing compassion isn’t hard and is pretty simple to bring into your everyday routine.

So, I just want to explain what compassion is and in Mindfulness it's simply the desire to help others and reduce suffering to others it is an emotion rather than a feeling.

When we are more compassionate, we can enjoy some real emotional benefits and a greater sense of purpose in our lives and most important more balance.

Self-Love is slightly different it is so important to take care of your body, mind and soul and learning to understand when we feel stress, anxious, negative feelings and learning how to eat right foods and exercise when we need a positive boost in the body and mind. Self-care isn’t as easy as Compassion as this is about YOU! Most of us are so busy and have stressful lives so taking time away from this isn’t always easy to do. But just take 10min's aside to reflect and tell yourself what you loved about the day and what made you smile most important reflect on what your grateful for. (I know it's hard to be kind to yourself)

“Only the development of compassion and understanding for others can bring us the tranquility and happiness we all seek.” Dalai Lama

So here are some ways to help bring Compassion and Self Love into your everyday life.

I try to practice most of these daily but sometimes you do get days where things are not as balanced and don’t always go to plan, that’s ok just keep moving forward and stay present don’t judge, don’t bring any negative feelings to yourself if you forget to practice these:

1: SELF CARE – SLEEP IS SO IMPORTANT MAKE IT PART OF YOUR ROUTINE

As you already know sleep is such a big part of your health and wellbeing and can affect you physically and emotionally if you don’t get enough sleep, this can also create health problems but stress and anxiety also play such a big part in a disturbed night sleep so we need to relax the body and mind before bed to let go of these feelings.

I make sure I go to bed same time every night (routine is so important here), or I will read for half hour before sleep. Turn off phones or any electrical equipment that may distract and start to let go of your day, it's rest time the most important part of healing for the body and mind. I also sleep with the curtains open especially during the Spring and summer months this helps your body wake up gradually to natural light.

2: COMPASSION - ENGAGE IN RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS

This is a special one and we may not all feel comfortable to do, that’s ok start with small acts of kindness and build on them. They will soon become the normal part of your life and your start doing them without knowing.

KINDNESS IS KEY TO SELF-LOVE!.

An example would be helping someone who you see struggling, sending someone a gift for no reason a little something to make them smile if they are having a bad day. Smiling at someone and saying "hello, good morning" that’s such a small thing to do but can make such a difference to someone else.

So why dont you send someone a little something to brighten their day it will also brighten yours in return.

3: SELF CARE - EAT RIGHT

For me eating a good healthy balanced diet is so important to overall health especially for your body and mind. What you eat is how your body feels in the morning, afternoon and evening, if you eat healthy your mind will be healthy.

Sometimes this one is hard but if you get into a habit, the habit will soon become the “normal”.

Some of the most amazing self-care foods include: fatty fish, blueberries, nuts, green leafy veggies, and brassicas, like broccoli.

4: COMPASSION – PRACTICE FORGIVENESS TO

YOURSELF AND OTHERS

I Feel that a lot of us struggle with forgiveness as humans it's such a big emotion / feeling, if that’s not with ourselves but other people and situations out of our control.

The ability to forgive yourself is a critical component of practicing self-compassion. When we constantly beat ourselves up and resist forgiveness, the anger and guilt get stored in our bodies and can show up as physical or emotional pain.

When we encounter someone who mistreats us, instead of acting in anger, withdraw. Later, when you are calm and more detached, reflect on that person who mistreated you. Try to imagine the background of that person.

Try to imagine the day or week that person was going through, and what kind of bad things had happened to that person. Once you reflect on this try acting with compassion moving forward when you encounter certain situations. There’s no point holding to the tension on negativity, angry emotions it's sits in your body and can cause illness over time.

5: COMPASSION – START WITH YOURSELF!

This one so important how can you share and give compassion to others if you don’t heal yourself first.

Understand compassion for YOU first... the rest will then become normal. Always bring gratitude into your everyday this will help heal and remove any negative thoughts you may experience if you always connect to gratitude even if it's something small it will boost your mood and make you feel good. REMEMBER ITS OK TO BE HAPPY AND FEEL HAPPY, DON'T WORRY ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK! BE YOU AND SHARE YOUR HAPPINESS WITH OTHERS.

There you have some examples to bring into your everyday life, some of these are simple, but some are also much harder than they seem and that’s ok.

Understanding compassion can be a really difficult journey, but we can make small changes in our life to bring more compassion in to our mind and body.

Our world is in dire need of compassionate souls who are willing to selflessly help others. Lack of compassion in our world is a shared human reality. We can make the world a more compassionate place if we do our part to make ourselves more compassionate.
