To me being kind is simple… and we really don’t do it enough.
If I could sum up what Kindness means to me personally it would be, to spread a smile to everyone to not judge people and to always bring compassion to people in our lives. It can be as simple as ringing a family member, or sharing with a friend some
home-grown tomatoes plants or maybe just saying good morning to a stranger and smiling.
Kindness is very close to generosity and in Mindfulness we also bring this into our lives and it's part of the 7 attitudes in Mindfulness. In my Yoga classes I always say be kind to your body when you move through your practice… and what I mean is don’t be annoyed if you feel you struggle at certain postures / poses or your body isn’t doing what you want at that present time (our body's are different each day thats why we need to be kind to it) and listen to it, after all we only have one.
Practising Kindness not only helps others but it also can make you happy as well. I try to bring Kindness into my everyday life… even if it's something small it really makes me feel happy and brings a smile to my face.

So as it's World Kindness Day I would like to share just some ways you can bring Kindness to your-self and to others:
Send Flowers / Gifts to a Friend / Family Member
What a lovely thoughtful thing to do, to send a bright colourful bunch of flowers to your friend who isn’t expecting it. It's such a lovely gesture and can really make someone’s day. #BEKIND
Pick up the phone – We seem to be attached to our phones all day and message a lot especially on What’s App / Facebook / Messenger etc… but why not just ring and have a chat over the phone, ring someone on their birthday rather than message them it can make it feel a bit more special especially during these current times.
Send Real Celebration Cards – Yes, we need to try to help reduce paper and plastics… but it's all too easy to on Social Media at the moment, people tend to send wishes of celebration on either Facebook and other social media networks instead of sending real cards these days. Sometimes sending an unexpected card is the best and makes someone think you have gone out your way to send a lovely card direct to them.
Help a Stranger – Even through these times there’s no excuse to help and support and be kind to people around you. It could be as simple as helping an elderly person in the supermarket get an item on the shelf?
The smallest actions can have a real positive effect on people.
It's just simple Be Kind…#BEKIND
Smile at a Stranger – Smiling can really make you feel so positive and give you a warm happy feeling in your body. Smiling is contagious so go and spread it to more people, say hello to strangers as you pass on you daily walks or if you go the supermarket. No matter what’s going on in your day smiling can make you feel better so go share them others.
Compliment people – This is one I feel we don’t always do… but if you think someone if looking nice say it. Tell them when you’re doing that online zoom call. Maybe there’s a work colleague that’s feeling down at the moment and all they need is a little pick me up and by saying words as simple… you look lovely today, I love what your wearing, your hair looks lovely etc… It's makes a big difference to someone’s day and it’s just a kind thing to do.
I have created recently created an online Facebook Group for wellbeing and Mental Health support especially during this current lock down. I share all things mindful and positive to help anyone who needs that little pick me up once in a while.
I also share FREE Yoga classes and Meditations in there…For me this makes me happy as I feel good about doing this to help others and people at this time.
So simple acts of Kindness can be brought into your everyday life…Support your friends and family at this time make the effort to keep in contact try not to give to receive and most important of all SMILE and share that will as many people as you can.
